President Muhammadu Buhari has sent a second list of ministerial nominees to the Nigerian Senate for screening. This was confirmed on Senator Bukola Saraki’s official twitter page yesterday afternoon at about 4:25pm. President Buhari sent the list through his chief of staff, Abba Kyari, who was accompanied by Senator Ita Enang, the Special assistant to the President on national assembly matters.

This list is coming 12 days after the first one was sent to the Nigerian Senate for screening. It reportedly contains 15 names, which brings the total number of ministerial nominees to 36. Screening of the names on the first list starts today with 10 of them scheduled to be screened. They include Kayode Fayemi, Audu Ogbe, Ogbonaya Onu, Alhaji Lai Mohammed among others. The screening exercise is expected to be completed in 3 days.

The names on this list, as read by the Senate President today, include

1. Isaac Adewole
2. Anthony Anwuka
3. Abubakar Bawa
4. Heineken Lokpobiri
5. Mohammed Bello
6. James Ocholi

9. Jeffery Onyema
10. Dan Ali
11. Zainab Ahmed

This second list contains the names of 3 women, bringing the total number of women on the list to 6. A number which only represents about 17% of the ministerial nominees and is less than the quota President Buhari promised during his campaign. Is he going back on his word or should we expect another list?
