Ghanaian educational institution, African University College of Communications (AUCC) has signed an agreement with AVAGMAH Online School of Bharathidasan University, India, to launch an online distance learning programme for professionals and others, beginning January 2013.

The online distance education, which would offer post-graduate, undergraduate and certificate courses, is designed to deliver winning results and gain a competitive edge in the challenging business environment in Ghana today.

Speaking at a Press conference to announce the initiative, Director and Founder, AUCC, Kojo Yankah, said the courses had been designed to suit especially those in the working class and professionals who had been restricted due to lack of time or those who could not afford to travel outside Ghana for further education.

He explained that “The AVAGMAH and AUCC pioneering association aims to bring world class education and deliver it to the working professional either to their office desks or to the confines of their homes via a blended model of extensive online programmes and periodic contact classroom sessions.”

The online courses to be offered include Media and Entertainment, Banking and Finance, International Business, Sales and Marketing, Human Resource Management, Infrastructure Management, Healthcare Management, Operations Management and Information Technology.

Yankah hoped that the partnership would afford thousands of Africans, especially Ghanaians  the opportunity to access higher learning from an India University of International reputation at a cost-effective rate.

“I am particularly enthused with the MBA in Media and Entertainment which will help to truly raise standards in the management of Africa’s burgeoning media and entertainment industry,” he said.

The partnership programme will also enable students have access to a digital library containing a repertoire of rich content, live classroom contact sessions at the AUCC campus and dedicated learner support and study materials.

Meanwhile, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, AVAGMAH Online School, K.S Karthik, noted that the courses offered by the school had received accreditation from institutions such as the Jack Welch Management Institute (USA), Harvard Business Publishing (USA), Institute of Management and Technology Centre for Distance Learning in India.

According to Karthik over 6,000 professionals from prominent organizations in the world were currently studying with AVAGMAH.
