On the 22nd and 23rd of April this year, the London School of Economics and Political Science will convene African leaders, policy-makers, practitioners and academics in London for its third annual LSE Africa summit 2016. These personalities would gather at the event to discuss “Africa within a Global Context.”
“We see the Summit as an avenue to influence the discourse around Africa, informing a more balanced narrative and next steps for sustainable development and policy formulation,” said Eki Izevbigie, Co-Director of the Business Conference.
The LSE Africa Summit is an annual gathering that showcases Africa’s contributions to the world and fosters debates on the challenges facing the continent. This summit seeks to create a platform that enables the power and potential of African nations to be transformed into action to boost investment, influence policy and challenge narratives.
Topics to be discussed at the event include law and illicit financial flows, politics of knowledge in higher education, social creating space for agency, rethinking the global land grab and investing in human capital, amongst others.
Apart from Atiku Abubakar, Former Vice President of Nigeria, Hakeem Belo Osagie, Chairman of Etisalat Nigeria, Dr. Carlos Lopes, Executive Secretary, UN Economic Commission for Africa and Japheth Omojuwa, other speakers to be present at the event include:
