On Sunday, 25 September 2016, Timi Frank, the Acting National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, dismissed the recent protests by some groups in the Niger Delta in support of the wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Dame Patience Jonathan.

According to him, it was disheartening that any group in the region could hold a protest in favor of Mrs. Jonathan at the Port Harcourt zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over the freezing of her account which contains about $31.4m. Furthermore, he described the threats by the group as empty and baseless.

In the statement, the APC advised youth to desist from such shameless act of defending politicians for “a pot of soup”, and advised Jonathan’s wife to tender her apology to Nigeria for the current economic hardship Mr. Jonathan’s regime had cause Nigerians, adding that the current APC administration was fighting corruption to secure the future.
