Adidas, a global sports and lifestyle brand has revealed plans to expand its business in Nigeria by opening two stores in Kano and Lekki Phase 1, Lagos come December, 2013. Both places where it hopes to launch business are strategic commercial places in West Africa largest economy.

The brand, which also features as the technical sponsor of the country’s national football team, revealed this at the formal launching of its operations in Nigeria. Adidas had open two stores last year through a strategic partnership with Mopheth Sport Nigeria Limited.

Speaking at the event, Senior Business Development Manager, Adidas, South Africa, Astruds Meintjes explained that the brand has enjoyed unrivalled success in the country due to its strategic partnership with the country’s national team.

“We have had unprecedented response to our brand from the Nigerian consumer…. All this, shows the excellent value that we are creating by consistently pursuing our strategic business plan to grow the brand in emerging markets like Nigeria”, Meintjes said.

“Undoubtedly, we have learnt valuable lessons that will be beneficial to our consumers as we expand our stores to Lekki and Kano in December, and the rest of the country’s major cities in due course”, she added.

Speaking on its partnership with the global sport brand, Managing Director of Mopheth Sport Nigeria Limited, Adekunle Oyegade said: “Adidas is an inspirational brand and our presence in the Nigerian market is to fulfil the aspiration of the Nigerian consumers’ quest for authentic and quality products.”
