A couple of weeks ago, I was having a conversation with my friend about smartphones with the best camera in the market. Being a budding photographer, I love to keep up with such information and trends.
Truth be told, these days, smartphone cameras are now so amazingly good that they put most entry-level DSLRs to shame in terms of delivering amazing picture quality. One thing struck me in the conversation though, she mentioned that TECNO just recently unveiled a 24MP selfie camera smartphone (the first in Africa) – CAMON X Pro and its duo CAMON X. I had to check out what TECNO has to offer me with this device and I found the experience quite fascinating. Here is my review:
Design: This phone is on fleek!
The CAMON X Pro is a real stunner with ergonomic curved edges; no doubt this is one of the most polished and beautiful phones I have ever held.
The device fits comfortably in the hand and you don’t have to worry about it slipping out of your hand because unlike its slippery feel predecessors, this one comes in a plastic casing.
With a bigger-screen smartphone like this one, you can be sure I’m going to make the most out if it with my piled-up TV series waiting to be watched. However, for a 6.0-inch FHD screen size it feels pretty compact thanks to its small bezels.
Camera: A winning feature for me
With an impressive unconventional 24MP+16MP front and rear camera, this device stole my heart away. I’m like wow! “Why so clear?” I mean just check out this picture.
Also, Explore the superpixel option of the CAMON X Pro. This feature lets you shoot only 4:3 and retains a lot of details allowing you to edit in post-production and enlarge for larger prints.
The sharpness, color accuracy and picture details are exceptional. I love the fact that the camera has a quick snap and nearly every picture I take comes out looking clear and crisp whether in bright scenes or low-light environments. The smartphone also has an adjustable front flashlight that freely adjusts the brightness-so even when I take pictures in low-light, I still get to have my great shots, now that’s quite remarkable. There are enough features packed in the device for selfie lovers and photo enthusiasts to enjoy.
Battery and storage performance
I must confess my usage pattern is quite heavy because I take and save lots of pictures coupled with my guilty pleasure of watching movies and playing video games, all of which I love to do on my smartphone. You can imagine how impressed I was when I found out the phone is made to support usage patterns like mine- the device is supported by 64GB+4GB ROM and RAM with a powerhouse of 3750mAH battery capacity making it adequate to last throughout a day of moderate to heavy.

My verdict
As far as the camera capacity and performance is concerned, I think the TECNO CAMON X Pro is the smartphone with the best camera in 2018. The device flaunts premium features at a cost that is of the best value to consumers – every dime spent purchasing the new TECNO CAMON X Pro will be totally worth it. I’m sure TECNO has more up its sleeves for smartphone users; however, whatever it is, you can be sure it would be a top-of-the-line smartphone like this one.
