One-time security adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Col. Sambo Dasuki, was arrested by the EFCC after being implicated in a $2.2 billion financial scam not too long ago. For the last month, Dasuki has been in the Nigerian media because of this investigation to his alleged role in diverting money meant for the procurement of weapons to aid in the fight against Boko Haram. As events unfurled, Dasuki gave up names of other people allegedly involved, with Raymond Dokpesi and former governor of Sokoto state, Bafarawa, as the first victims.
Today, however, Nigerian twitter users share their thoughts as the new developments evolve. #DasukiGate is the key hashtag and the issues being discussed surround the release of more names which have been revealed. The larger part of the conversation is concerned with how the money was disbursed and trying to decipher if this is not just a witch hunt.
No matter the amount of evidence churned out daily on social media, Dasuki,Dokpesi & Co remains innocent until proven guilty. #Dasukigate

The court is not moved by your tears & wailing on social media, rather by FACTS. Let the FG compile evidence & do the needful. #Dasukigate

5. #DasukiGate needs to be unraveled with proof & documents from both sides, the accused and the ACCUSER. Mere reports will not just cut it!

GMB has made an error on #dasukigate: in a democracy it’s not a leaders place to make judgement, leave that to the judiciary #TrialByTwitter
